Unlike AOD and COD wedge types that are designed for outside-diameter surfaces, the AID wedge is designed for internal curved surfaces. The AID contact profile helps match the concave inner-diameter surface, allowing the wedge to maintain better seating and more stable coupling during inspection. This is important when performing PAUT inspection from the internal side of pipes, vessels, shells, and cylindrical components.
