Product Overview
TheSonic India Micro IRIS Probes are compact ultrasonic probes used for internal inspection of small-diameter tubes. The probe assembly is inserted inside the tube, and ultrasonic sound energy is transmitted through water toward the tube wall. The reflected ultrasonic echoes are used to measure wall thickness and evaluate tube wall condition.
Micro IRIS probes are selected based on tube ID, wall thickness, tube material, required inspection sensitivity, probe frequency, centering device requirement, cable interface, TUD arrangement, and inspection instrument compatibility.
These probes are especially useful where standard IRIS probes may not fit or where tube internal diameter is too small for larger probe assemblies.
Working Principle / Technology Overview
A Micro IRIS probe uses a compact ultrasonic transducer to send and receive sound pulses through a water path. The ultrasonic beam is directed toward the tube wall, and echoes from the internal and external tube wall surfaces are received by the probe.
The time difference between the internal wall echo and external wall echo is used to calculate tube wall thickness. Signal amplitude and echo pattern changes may indicate pitting, corrosion, erosion, localized wall loss, or other tube wall changes.
Micro IRIS probe performance depends on:
· Probe size
· Probe frequency
· Tube ID
· Wall thickness
· Tube material
· Water path stability
· Probe centering
· Tube cleanliness
· Cable and TUD connection quality
· Calibration standard
· Instrument setup

Detailed Product Description
Micro IRIS Probes from TheSonic India are designed for ultrasonic inspection of small-diameter tubes using the Micro Internal Rotary Inspection System method. The compact probe is inserted into the tube and moved along the tube length while the instrument evaluates reflected ultrasonic echoes from the tube wall.
Correct probe selection is important for inspection accuracy. A probe that is too large, too small, poorly centered, or not matched to the tube wall thickness may affect signal quality and measurement reliability. The probe frequency and focus should be selected based on tube material, wall thickness, ID, required resolution, and inspection objective.
TheSonic India can support Micro IRIS probe selection and customization based on customer tube details, inspection instrument, probe connection, and project requirement.
Inspection Capability
Micro IRIS Probes can support detection and evaluation of:
