Product Overview

TheSonic India RFET Single-Driver Flexible Probes are developed for inspection of ferromagnetic tubes where standard rigid probes may not travel smoothly through the tube path. These probes are suitable for carbon steel and other ferromagnetic tube applications where bend negotiation, flexible movement, and full tube coverage are required.

RFET is commonly used for tube inspection where conventional eddy current testing is not effective due to high magnetic permeability of ferromagnetic materials. The flexible single-driver RFET probe uses one driver coil section to generate a low-frequency electromagnetic field and receiver coil section to detect the remote-field response after the magnetic field has interacted with the tube wall.

The flexible construction allows the probe to travel through curved tube areas, bend regions, and restricted paths while maintaining the remote field inspection function. This makes it suitable for tube bundles, U-bend heat exchangers, boiler tubes, process tubes, and other ferromagnetic tube inspection applications where flexibility is required.

Working Principle / Technology Overview

Remote Field Eddy Current Testing works on low-frequency electromagnetic field interaction with ferromagnetic tube walls. The driver coil generates an alternating magnetic field inside the tube. In ferromagnetic tubes, the direct field near the driver is highly attenuated. At a suitable receiver distance, the dominant signal is the remote field, which has travelled through the tube wall, along the outside of the tube, and back through the tube wall to the receiver region.

This double-wall transmission path makes RFET sensitive to both internal and external wall loss. Changes in tube wall thickness, corrosion, erosion, pitting, thinning, and other metal loss conditions affect the amplitude and phase response of the received signal. The RFET instrument records these signal changes for analysis and defect evaluation.

In a single-driver RFET probe, one exciter / driver section produces the electromagnetic field, while the receiver section detects the remote-field response. Receiver configuration, coil spacing, probe diameter, frequency selection, and tube material properties are important for reliable inspection performance.

Detailed Product Description

The RFET Single-Driver Flexible Probe from TheSonic India is designed for ferromagnetic tube inspection where probe flexibility is required. In many industrial tube bundles, inspection areas may include bends, return bends, curved sections, restricted paths, or tube geometries where standard rigid probes may not pass smoothly. A flexible RFET probe helps improve tube coverage and allows inspection teams to evaluate areas that may otherwise be difficult to inspect.

The probe is pulled or pushed through the tube while the RFET instrument monitors the remote-field signal response. As the probe passes through areas affected by wall loss, corrosion, pitting, erosion, or other tube damage, the received signal changes in amplitude and phase. These changes are interpreted using calibration standards, instrument setup, and approved inspection procedures.

The single-driver design is practical for general RFET inspection applications where one driver coil section is used to generate the electromagnetic field. The flexible body design must be selected carefully based on tube ID, bend radius, tube wall thickness, tube material, cable configuration, and instrument compatibility.

TheSonic India RFET Single-Driver Flexible Probes can be customized based on tube size, bend requirement, coil configuration, cable length, connector type, and inspection system requirement.

Inspection Capability

RFET Single-Driver Flexible Probes can support detection and evaluation of:
