Product Overview
TheSonic India RFET Single-Driver Standard Probes are used for inspection of ferromagnetic tubes where straight tube geometry allows smooth probe movement. These probes are suitable for carbon steel and other ferromagnetic tube applications where remote field eddy current testing is required for tube wall condition assessment.
The standard RFET probe is inserted inside the tube and moved through the tube length while the RFET instrument records the remote-field signal response. The single-driver configuration uses one excitation / driver section to generate a low-frequency electromagnetic field. The receiver section detects changes in the remote field caused by wall loss, corrosion, pitting, erosion, thinning, and other tube wall defects.
RFET Single-Driver Standard Probes are suitable for straight tube inspection applications where stable probe travel, repeatable coil spacing, and consistent signal response are required. They are commonly used in tube inspection projects involving ferromagnetic heat exchanger tubes, boiler tubes, process tubes, fin-fan tubes, and air cooler tubes.
Working Principle / Technology Overview
Remote Field Eddy Current Testing is based on low-frequency electromagnetic field penetration through ferromagnetic tube walls. The driver coil produces an alternating magnetic field inside the tube. Near the driver coil, the direct field is strongly attenuated by the ferromagnetic tube wall. At the receiver region, the dominant signal is the remote field, which travels through the tube wall, along the outside surface of the tube, and back through the wall to the receiver.
Because the electromagnetic field passes through the tube wall twice, RFET is sensitive to both internal and external wall loss. Changes in wall thickness, corrosion, pitting, erosion, tube wear, and local metal loss influence the amplitude and phase of the received signal.
The single-driver standard probe design is suitable for applications where one driver coil section and receiver coil section are used for general RFET tube inspection. Probe diameter, fill factor, driver-receiver spacing, inspection frequency, tube material, and calibration quality are important for reliable inspection results.

Detailed Product Description
The RFET Single-Driver Standard Probe from TheSonic India is designed for reliable inspection of straight ferromagnetic tubes. It is typically used when tube geometry allows smooth probe movement and flexibility is not required. The standard probe design provides stable probe structure, repeatable driver-receiver spacing, and consistent inspection response along the tube length.
During inspection, the probe travels inside the tube while the RFET instrument monitors the amplitude and phase response of the received signal. Areas affected by wall loss, corrosion, pitting, erosion, or localized thinning create measurable changes in the RFET response. These signal changes are compared with calibration standards and interpreted according to the approved inspection procedure.
Standard single-driver RFET probes are practical for straight tube screening, wall loss assessment, and routine condition monitoring of ferromagnetic tube bundles. Probe design can be customized based on tube ID, wall thickness, material, instrument compatibility, inspection frequency, cable length, and connector requirement.
