The TOFD AOD Wedge from TheSonic India is developed for axial outer-diameter weld inspection using Time-of-Flight Diffraction ultrasonic testing. This wedge is selected when the inspection surface is on the outside diameter and the probe movement follows the length of the pipe, vessel, shell, or cylindrical component.

Unlike a flat wedge, the AOD wedge includes OD curvature matching to improve contact on external curved surfaces. This helps reduce unstable movement and supports consistent couplant distribution. Stable wedge seating is especially important in TOFD inspection because probe separation, beam entry, and signal quality must remain consistent throughout the scan.

The Rexolite body provides efficient ultrasonic transfer, while high-standard damping support reduces unwanted sound paths within the wedge. This improves inspection signal clarity and supports more reliable TOFD data acquisition.
